OUR STORY
My wife, Ila, and I have been in full time vocational ministry for over 23 years. In 2012 we realized God was stirring us to start a new church. We decided on Ontario, California. I remember my heart quickening as I imagined people of all backgrounds and ethnicities meeting Jesus and then being empowered to reach their spheres of influence. We started the work of establishing LaunchPoint Community Church in 2013. Since then, God has blessed our efforts seeing many people come to faith through a team of dedicated people like Paul Ko, who brings over 30 years of ministry experience overseas. We also have Chris Payne, our Worship Leader whose team passionately helps people encounter God. Chris also coordinates our LifeGroups which is the life blood of our church helping people develop missional communities that care for one another in meaningful ways. Susan East leads our Children's ministry team to actively love and teach our kids in an environment that is really fun, leading kids to want to come back for more! Our Youth Ministry team is led by Abbey Hernandez who engages the students mind and body, helping them to know how to best navigate life God's way and she does it in in a way that young people feel known and cared for! GOD There is one God, eternally existing in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and each possesses all of the attributes of God. God is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe and everything in it. (Genesis 1:1, 1:26-27; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; Acts 17:24-28; 2 Corinthians 13:14) JESUS Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is one with God the Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is our Savior, who was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on a cross for all sin, and was raised from the grave on the third day to demonstrate His defeat of sin and death. He ascended into heaven and will return for all Christ-followers as our omnipotent King. (1 Corinthians 15:1-8; John 3:16; 1 John 3:5) HOLY SPIRIT The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under His influence daily. (2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13 & 14:16-17; 1 Corinthians 2:12 & 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:18) BIBLE Our foundation is based firmly upon the Bible as our final authority on Christian beliefs and as a guide to living. The Bible is divinely inspired by God, without error, given to man so that we may know and understand the truth of God and His plan for redemption. (2 Timothy 3:16 & Psalm 119:105) HUMANITY All people are made in the image of God and were created to live their life following Jesus Christ. Although people have tremendous potential for good, we also have the freedom to do evil. Our disobedience toward God is called “sin” and that separates all humanity from God. All people have sinned. (Genesis 1:26-27; Isaiah 43:7; Isaiah 59:2; Romans 3:10, 23; 1 John 1:8) SALVATION Salvation is a free gift from God provided by Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and is received through faith. It is available to everyone who accepts Jesus Christ as his/her Savior and Lord. That faith is expressed through repentance of sin and baptism by immersion. (John 3:16; John 14:6; Ephesians 1:7; Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 10:9 & Acts 2:38) ETERNITY People were created to exist forever. Every person will either exist eternally in union with God in Heaven through following Jesus Christ or eternally separated from God in Hell because of sin. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; John 3:16; 1 John 2:25; 5:11-13; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15) CHURCH The church consists of all who have placed their trust in Christ as Lord of their life, received the forgiveness of their sins and has been empowered by the Holy Spirit. The mission of the church is to glorify God and share Christ in relevant ways with those who do not know him while supporting and encouraging each other.
