My wife Ila and I, have been in full time vocational ministry for over 18 years. In 2012 we realized God was stirring us to start a new church. We decided on Ontario, California. We were excited about the potential population and economic growth of the area.
I remember my heart quickening as I imagined people of all backgrounds and ethnicities meeting Jesus and being equipped to then reach their sphere of influence. After a leadership residency at a church in Redlands in 2012, we started the work of establishing LaunchPoint Community Church in 2013.
I'm really excited about our ministry team which includes Paul Ko our Associate Pastor who brings over 30 years of ministry experience overseas. Ila Taylor is growing a fun, caring and healthy Children's Ministry. Jonny Gonzales, our Worship Leader, has a team that passionately helps people encounter God. In addition to these part time staff, we recently had a Leadership Resident of our own who is preparing to launch a Gospel centered church in the Los Angeles area. And two years ago we helped launch a Gospel centered church in Boise, ID. It is the first of many to come as we seek to advance the kingdom locally and globally.
~ Chris Taylor, Lead Pastor
There is one God, eternally existing in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and each possesses all of the attributes of God. God is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe and everything in it. (Genesis 1:1, 1:26-27; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; Acts 17:24-28; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is one with God the Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is our Savior, who was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on a cross for all sin, and was raised from the grave on the third day to demonstrate His defeat of sin and death. He ascended into heaven and will return for all Christ-followers as our omnipotent King. (1 Corinthians 15:1-8; John 3:16)
The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under His influence daily. (2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13 & 14:16-17; 1 Corinthians 2:12 & 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:18)
Our foundation is based firmly upon the Bible as our final authority on Christian beliefs and as a guide to living. The Bible is divinely inspired by God, without error, given to man so that we may know and understand the truth of God and His plan for redemption. (2 Timothy 3:16 & Psalm 119:105)
All people are made in the image of God and were created to live their life following Jesus Christ. Although people have tremendous potential for good, we also have the freedom to do evil. Our disobedience toward God is called “sin” and that separates all humanity from God. All people have sinned. (Genesis 1:26-27; Isaiah 43:7; Isaiah 59:2; Romans 3:10, 23; 1 John 1:8)
Salvation is a free gift from God provided by Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and is received through faith. It is available to everyone who accepts Jesus Christ as his/her Savior and Lord. That faith is expressed through repentance of sin and baptism by immersion. (John 3:16; Ephesians 1:7; Romans 10:9 & Acts 2:38)
People were created to exist forever. Every person will either exist eternally in union with God in Heaven through following Jesus Christ or eternally separated from God in Hell because of sin. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; John 3:16; 1 John 2:25; 5:11-13; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15)
The church consists of all who have placed their trust in Christ as Lord of their life, received the forgiveness of their sins and has been empowered by the Holy Spirit. The mission of the church is to glorify God and share Christ in relevant ways with those who do not know him while supporting and encouraging each other. (Acts 1:8, Ephesians 4:1-16, James 1:26-27, Hebrews 10:24-25)
