3 Steps to Prepare
|
|
Having a YOU+ Conversation is a bit different than a typical discussion. We have several resources at the bottom of this page to help you feel confident in helping someone create their Game Plan.
TIPS FOR FACILITATORS
These tips will help you lead a successful conversation.
- Guide & Plan – This includes questions to help you have an amazing conversation! Take a PRINTED copy of the guide to the conversation. You'll find the Game Plan on the back where they will write down their goals.
- NOTES – This provides helpful suggestions and a Next Steps Map with ideas to help the participant create their Game Plan.
- Follow Up – Creating a Game Plan is the start of a year of growth for the participant. Intentional follow up keeps them growing. This guide helps you know how to follow up. We'll remind you when it's time.
- Conversation Prep – This document helps the participant to prepare for the conversation. If they have not gone through it, you may need to send it to them ahead of the conversation.
TIPS FOR FACILITATORS
These tips will help you lead a successful conversation.
- HINT 1: Questions 2, 3, & 4 are designed to help the participant process each of the connections. This is very valuable before thinking about their dream.
- HINT 2: Question 5 is the center of the conversation. There are 3 parts. Be sure to ask each part separately. Help them to imagine in their mind what it might look like if their chosen connection (U+ God, U+Church, U+World) were flourishing. This is not a goal or a to do list. Think of it this way: If their YOU+ dream was a scene in a movie, what would be happening?
- HINT 3: Have the person fill out a PRINTED version of the Game Plan. Help them fill out the paper, focusing on their dream first. Have them write down what would be different.
- HINT 4: The goals need to be specific and measurable. That means a 10 year old can tell you if it has been accomplished. Make sure each goal is achievable. Talk with them about each one and help them write the goals so that it is a step in the direction of their dream.
- HINT 5: At the end of the conversation, record their Game Plan ONLINE with them!! (scan the QR code with your camera) Seriously, not doing this is the biggest mistake facilitators make.
A printed version of their Game Plan provides a copy of their goals to keep in front of them during next year.
